C. S. Lewis wrote that a reporter once asked him if Christianity was useful to society. Lewis’s answer? An emphatic no. The reporter was judging Christianity by the current standards of the day in England, which were progressive. The reporter’s question was based on a worldly notion of utility. And an absurd notion of Who Jesus Christ is.

God as a Utility stems from the audacious and arrogant assumption that man is the measure of all things, including God's usefulness.  Is the Creator of all things useful? We need to ask if we are useful to Him!
