Who am I? For one thing, I am someone who resisted God’s Word for over forty years. If a prize were awarded for spiritual idiocy and pigheadedness, I would be a contender. I imagine that Hell probably has an award show much like the Academy Awards. “And the award goes to...ouch! Can’t they fireproof these envelopes?” But seriously, Hell and the Academy Awards do have something in common—they last an eternity.

As you might have noticed, I do not take myself too seriously. Humor can be used to counter sorrow or to relieve someone who is carrying a burden, but it can also be used to poke fun at someone’s expense. My humor may help someone who is overcoming sorrow but I will not avoid poking fun at people who are self-inflated, including me (said with insincere humility).

The essays I intend to post here, as the title indicates, will be about God and about life. While many will be humorous (to me at least, and hopefully to you), others will be serious attempts to understand what it means to be a Christian. Those who wonder what brand of Christian I am ought to know that my core beliefs can be summed up in the Apostle’s Creed—all of it. That said, I hope the content of this site is helpful, comforting and thought-provoking. Thanks for coming.
